PRODUCT DESCRIPTION & USE

Alkyd resin-based, air-drying, is a synthetic primer. Interior and exterior facade of buildings, all kinds of wood and metal surfaces, safely be used before applying final coating.

SURFACE PREPARATION

The old paint on metal and wood surfaces should be scraped and should be cleaned. Knots of new wood surfaces should be burned. Damaged surfaces should be smooth with an appropriate paste. Dirt, grease and rust on metal surfaces must be cleaned. Wood surfaces must be fed with Southwind Wood Protective. Metal surfaces must be primed with Southwind Anti-corrosion product.

 

APPLICATION

Southwind Synthetic Primer is thinned with Synthetic Thinner as given ratio is applied 1 or 2 times by roll, brush and air spray. Application must be made after 4-5 hours depending on the ambient conditions. Sanding the surface slightly before the final coating should be needed. The product should be homogenized before usage with a mixer. It is recommended to be used the same party and same production dated products.

 

SPREADING RATE

One layer 10–12 m2/kg can be painted

 

REDUCTION

• Thinning ratio by volume for brush and roll application, %5-10 with Synthetic Thinner, 
• Thinning ratio by volume for air spray application, %10-15 with Synthetic Thinner.

 

DRYING TIMES (SINGLE COAT, STANDARD THICKNESS)

  Touch Dry    At the 20 °C, 1-2 hours

  Recoat   4 hours

  This is dependent upon temperature and humidity

 

CLEANING UP

Clean up with soap and water. After cleaning up be sure to flush spray equipment with solvent to prevent rusting following manufacturer’s instructions. Dispose of can in accordance with local authority guidelines.

        

PRECAUTIONS / WARNINGS

Keep out of reach of children. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying. If the product comes in contact with the eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water. To remove splashes from skin, use soap and water or a recognized skin cleaner. Do not take internally.

 

STORAGE

 The product should be kept in a dry place. Lid should be closed   tight when not in use. Not to be exposed to direct sunlight. Stock life is 1 year in original container. Protect from freezing.
